In 2010, M-1 Challenge champions were crowned for the first time in five weight classes. To achieve this, eight-man M-1 Selection tournaments were held throughout the year in three regions – the United States, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe – with the winners set to face each other for the M-1 Challenge championship belt. In the middleweight division, our region’s champion was a true master of striking, the highly experienced Magomed Sultanakhmedov from the renowned Gorets club. His opponent in the unification bout was US champion Tyson Jeffries, who competed in his home country in this fight.
