Fights between charismatic and colorful heavyweights have always aroused great interest among spectators. Especially if these are two pumped-up big guys weighing almost 12 kg and both of them are undefeated. Today we will watch just such a fight. And for this we will go to 1997, to Holland, to the Rings Holland 5 tournament.
Our heroes today will be two local stars of that time. Pedro de Palm was a representative of the Mejiro Gym wrestling school. He ended all his previous fights with painful holds and did not know the bitterness of defeat.
And his opponent was a huge bodybuilder and winner of various arm wrestling tournaments, Joep Casteel, nicknamed “the mountain man”, who took his first steps in mixed martial arts, training in the Dolman Gym team together with the legendary Bob Schreiber. In the future, he would defeat such famous Russian fighters as Roman Zentsov and Yuri Kochkin, and he approached this fight with three wins in three fights.
According to the rules of the organization, punches to the head were prohibited in this fight format and knockdowns were counted, which, however, did not prevent the fighters from repeatedly demonstrating brutal knockouts to the fans.
