Part of my jaw with six teeth on it was just broken and displaced by this kick. But I couldn’t show him that I was in deep troubles, because I had to keep on fighting”

That’s how Sergey Kornev described his feelings during dramatic and bloody fight for M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title. This epic battle took place on September 30, 2012 at M-1 Challenge 34 event in Moscow.

Polish fighter Marcin Zontek was the veteran of multiple European promotions, including KSW and Heroes Gate. He started in M-1 Challenge with two victories over highly regarded Russian light heavyweights Igor Savelyev and Salim Daudov, then he’s got an opportunity to fight for the vacant light heavyweight title.

His opponent was Sergey Kornev, one of the leaders of team Legion from Rostov-on-Don. He won M-1 world team championship as the member of team Legion. Sergey won in 10 of his 12 pro MMA fights at the moment.

Two high-level fighters with tons of experience and toughness took on each other, so it was going to be the battle that would be remember for years by the fans.
