Few days ago well-known Russian MMA veteran Alexei Oleinik turned 44 years. It’s crazy, but he started his professional career in MMA in 1996, when people used “no holds barred” name more usually than “mixed martial arts”. Alexei is still active UFC fighter, he has 76 pro MMA fights, and tonight we are going to show you one of his fights.
The first world team MMA championship was organized in 2008-09 by M-1. Red Devil team from Russia advanced to the final and took on the Dutch national team. Red Devil coaches decided to strengthen their time adding experienced veteran, so Alexei became the member of the team in the final.
His opponent was supposed to be Jessie Gibbs, who became three-time European kyokushin karate champion and won multiple jiu-jitsu tournaments before he starter his MMA career. Jessie won all four fights on his way to the final, all by the stoppages, including the fight against Akhmed Sultanov. But Alexei wasn’t scared at all by his opponent’s size and titles, so he calmly accepted this challenge, like he always did.
