Starting with the M-1 Challenge 59 “Battle of the Nomads” tournament, which took place on July 3 in Kazakhstan, M-1 Global officially began holding fights in the weight category up to 61.2 kg with a subsequent title fight between the strongest fighters of the division. The first official fight was between Andy Young (Northern Ireland), 6-6 and Sergey Morozov (Kazakhstan), 5-0.
World champion in traditional jiu-jitsu and holder of a black belt in this martial art Andy Young was twice recognized as the best fighter in the history of Northern Ireland – in 2013 and 2014. In mixed martial arts, he had 12 professional fights and currently has an equal number of wins and losses – 6 each.
His opponent was Sergey Morozov, a fighter from Kazakhstan who has not known defeat in the professional arena. He holds the titles of Kazakhstan Champion and Vice-Champion of Asia in mixed martial arts, as well as 5 wins in 5 fights in his professional career. In his debut fight at the M-1 Challenge tournaments, he fought in Beijing and at the end of the second round sent the local fighter Ridjirigal Amu by technical knockout.
