In the history of M-1 Global, there have been many truly brutal, jaw-dropping and hard knockouts. Fighters sent each other to the canvas unconscious with powerful punches, knees, and even high kicks. But when it came to ground and pound, the fight was usually stopped by the judges and ended with a technical knockout. However, this was not always the case. On August 5, at the international tournament M-1 Challenge 60 in Orel, two fighters met in rage, who had already proven themselves in a number of different tournaments, including Russian ones, before making their debut in M-1 Challenge. The intricate Croatian fighter Josip Artukovic, by the age of 30, had 15 professional fights, winning 11 of them, and only one of them lasted the entire allotted time for the fight. A master of ground fighting, he preferred to end his fights with spectacular chokes and painful holds.
His opponent was the winner of the Legionfight and Pro FC tournaments Denis Genyuk from the Rostov club Legion. He had victories in various pankration tournaments behind him, the most significant of which were the victory at the Black Sea Cup and bronze at the 2014 World Championship, which allowed the young athlete to win the title of Master of Sports of International Class. In the professional mixed martial arts arena, he achieved 6 victories in 10 fights and he approached the fight against the Croatian fighter with a series of 3 victories.
