Denis Goltsov, nicknamed “The Russian Bogatyr,” is one of the top Russian heavyweights and currently competes successfully in the American PFL Grand Prix. He boasts truly Herculean proportions and a strong striking technique, allowing him to repeatedly knock out renowned heavyweights in the world of mixed martial arts.
Denis began his career 13 years ago and has competed in a variety of Russian promotions, including M-1 Global, Pro FC, and ACB. Today, we’ll watch his fight from 2015, when, as part of the Tech Krep promotion, he fought for the GEFC World Heavyweight Championship.
His opponent was top British heavyweight James McSweeney, nicknamed “The Hammer” for his knockout power. He had vast experience fighting at the highest level, reaching the semifinals of The Ultimate Fighters, and several fights in the UFC Octagon and at the arena of Asia’s leading promotion, ONE FC. The Brit was determined to take the championship belt home from Russia and promised to put on a fun fight with Denis.
